Great Lakes Area Fiber Happenings 2007 Here are some fiber related events where you can find us, or that are happening in the Great Lakes Area. To have your fiber event added, please send us an email with description of your special event and we'll add it to the list. 2007Spring Fiber Retreat, Insel Haus, Bois Blanc Island, Michigan, April 22-27, and the Fall Fiber Retreat at Insel Haus, October 19-22. A relaxing time with fiber friends new and old, in front of the fire or wandering the shoreline of Lake Michigan. Spring Fiber Day at Mount Bruce Station, Romeo, Michigan, May 19, 10 am to 4 pm. The whole family will enjoy seeing the lambs, watching sheep being shorn, and generally enjoying life on a working farm. Vendors, demos, and food. Fiber Arts Festival, located at Castle Farms, near Charlevoix, Michigan, July 28-29. Demos, vendors, and fiber art fashion show. See what Northwest Lower Michigan artisans and farmers do. Located on restored dairy farm constructed to look like a medieval castle's buildings. Michigan Fiber Festival, Allegan, Michigan. August 15 - 19. A great way to get a taste of the fiber community at large. Great workshops, lots of shopping opportunities, animal shows, etc. Mount Bruce Station Sheep & Wool Festival, September 29-30, Romeo, Michigan. Entertainment for the whole family on a working farm. Superb way to introduce the kids to the old crafts and show them where their food and clothes really come from. Lots for the rest of the family, too. Vendors, classes, demonstrations, great food. The friendliest little fiber festival around, the Northern Michigan Lamb & Wool Festival, can be found at the Ogemaw County Fairgrounds, September 29-30. Workshops, vendors, sheep shearing class, vendors, sheep shearing competition, vendors, guild displays/demos, vendors, Super Silly Spinning Challenge, and may we add, vendors? Great for the whole family! No admission or parking fees! 5th Annual Shop Hop, November 10. Visit yarn stores in Lake Orion, Clarkston, and Rochester and win prizes, get special discounts, enjoy refreshments, and just have a great time! Heritage's 8th Anniversary Sale, November 15-17. Enjoy the birthday party and a special sale to thank all the wonderful people who've supported Heritage Spinning and Weaving over the last eight years. |
