0811 Learn to Weave in a Week

Dates: Monday - Friday, 1/17/2011, 1/18/2011, 1/19/2011, 1/20/2011 and 1/21/2011, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, 5 sessions

If you've always wanted to be a weaver, there is no time like the present! This class teaches you the language of weaving, project planning, loom management, dressing the loom, and everything you need to successfully weave two projects in class. All materials included in class fee, including use of a 4-shaft loom if needed.

Required supplies and equipment: Tape measure, scissors, calculator, paper, pencil, required books, your portable loom if you have one.

Required Books: Handweaver's Pattern Directory by Anne Dixon and The Book of Weaving for the Four-Shaft Loom by Anne Field

0804 Warping Simplified

Dates: Wednesday, 1/26/2011, 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, 1 sessions

Once you get the warp on your loom it doesn't matter HOW you did it, it just matters THAT you did it well. If you are frustrated by wasted time and inefficiency, then you'll want to learn this method of warping. It may just revolutionize the way you dress your multi-shaft loom.

Required supplies and equipment: Note taking materials. OPTIONAL: full-color step by step instructions ready for putting in 3-ring binder. $25. Only available with the class, you must order the book when you sign up for class. Extras will not be available the day of class.

1822 Applied Lace Guest Towel - Part 1 - Weaving

Dates: Saturday and Sunday, 2/26/2011 and 2/27/2011, 11:00 am to 5:00 pm, 2 sessions

Saturday meets from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Warp a simple linen project in class and weave a pair of guest towels based on historical textile samples. Must have your own loom - either a multi-shaft loom or a rigid heddle with second heddle (2 - 12 dent reeds).

Required supplies and equipment: 1 8.8 oz tube 20/2 linen (note: if you are taking part 2 of this class you will want matching linen in the 10/2 weight)

3516 Applied Lace Guest Towel - Part 2 Knitting

Dates: Sunday, 3/27/2011, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, 1 sessions

Learn to knit a vintage lace trim for a linen guest towel - either one you wove in last months companion class, or for a purchased towel. We\'ll work from old patterns and do a bit of sampling. This is fine gauge work!

Required supplies and equipment: Linen knitting yarn included in class fee. Bring your smallest knitting needles - from US Size 000 to Size 1. Note taking materials and standard knitting kit. Let us know before class if you will need linen for a towel.
