Part of the charm of islands is the ferry. We crossed between storms. The first week we were in country, the ferry ran intermittently (which is unusual) because of bad weather. The second week had several down days as well. We slipped in between storms (there was a cyclone brewing during our stay) and had a wonderful three hour ride from Picton to Wellington.
