Great Lakes Area Fiber Happenings 2008Here are some fiber related events where you can find us, or that are happening in the Great Lakes Area. Spring Fiber Retreat, Insel Haus, Bois Blanc Island, Michigan, April 25-28. A relaxing time with fiber friends new and old, in front of the fire or wandering the shoreline of Lake Michigan. See our Special Events listing for more info. Registration is limited, sign up quickly! Fiber Arts Festival, located at Castle Farms, near Charlevoix, Michigan, July 26-27. Demos, vendors, and fiber art fashion show. See what Northwest Lower Michigan artisans and farmers do. Located on restored dairy farm constructed to look like a medieval castle's buildings. Michigan Fiber Festival, Allegan, Michigan. August 13 - 17. A great way to get a taste of the fiber community at large. Great workshops, lots of shopping opportunities, animal shows, etc. Mount Bruce Station Sheep & Wool Festival, September 27 & 28, Romeo, Michigan. Entertainment for the whole family on a working farm. Superb way to introduce the kids to the old crafts and show them where their food and clothes really come from. Lots for the rest of the family, too. Vendors, classes, demonstrations, great food. The friendliest little fiber festival around, the Northern Michigan Lamb & Wool Festival, can be found at the Ogemaw County Fairgrounds, September 26-28. Workshops, vendors, sheep shearing class, vendors, sheep shearing school, vendors, guild displays/demos, vendors, Super Silly Spinning Challenge, and may we add, vendors? Great for the whole family! No admission or parking fees! 6th Annual Shop Hop, November 8. Visit yarn stores in Lake Orion, Clarkston, and Rochester and win prizes, get special discounts, enjoy refreshments, and just have a great time! Heritage's 9th Anniversary Sale, November 14-16. Enjoy the birthday party and a special sale to thank all the wonderful people who've supported Heritage Spinning and Weaving over the last eight years. |
