West Coast, South Island, New Zealand
Beaches the world over have their own personalities. On the west coast some of the beaches are literally at the edge of the mountain. In spite of that, this one was fairly sandy and very pretty.
Beaches always provide photo opportunities. Doesn't this make you want to run after her and make your own footprints in the sand?

The west coast was full of nothing-ness and gorgeous scenery. The foliage in the foreground is the silver fern, a national symbol. It grows all over and as it matures looks like a palm tree with a long trunk and leaves at the top.

This is one of my favorite photos from the trip. It was late in the day as we drove up the coast. The weather alternated from bright sunshine to squalls. It seemed we could see a rainbow or two or three for most of an hour or so. It was really incredible.

I could live here . . . couldn't you?

Just another pretty picture . . .
